Q: How do I get a copy of Dollars & Sense Magazine?

If you’ve got a residential Dane County address, you’ll find D&S inside it quarterly. Dollars & Sense Magazine is the only full-color advertising magazine mailed to every household in Dane County. We’re out four times a year (March, May, August and November) and we keep up with new construction, so the circulation changes each issue. We currently mail approximately 225,000 households.

Q: Do you have a mission or vision statement?

We sure do, and it’s very important to us: Dollars and Sense Magazine believes local small businesses are the foundation of a strong community. Our mission is to help these organizations grow by empowering consumers to encourage local spending. Dollars and Sense Magazine imagines a world in which all small businesses thrive within their local economies. As a local, family-owned, community savings magazine, it is our responsibility to serve and enhance the communities in which we work and live. In that spirit, we are proud Dane Buy Local members and five percent of our sales from DBL advertisers go right back into Dane Buy Local.

Q: I’m looking for my favorite business but I don’t see it in the magazine or on the web. What’s going on?

Some of our advertisers prefer to only have their ads appear in print and not the Internet. Also, only the ads from the current issue appear here on the website. If there’s someone you haven’t seen for a while and you miss them, let us know. We’re happy to pass on the message from their customer.

Q: Can I link directly to advertisers’ web sites from DollarsandSenseMagazine.com?

Yes, most of the time, depending on the advertiser’s preference, you’ll find a link to their website directly below each advertiser listing.

Q: How are the advertisers organized on the website?

We’ve organized advertisers alphabetically under the category of services they offer, which you can access from the Find Coupons pull down menu or by scrolling down on the home page. You can also search by keyword in the upper right corner, and new advertisers are always highlighted toward the bottom of the home page as well. If you’re having a hard time finding an advertiser you know should be here, please let us know.

Q: How often will the list of advertisers be changed?

We change the website to reflect the current issue four times each year, in alignment with our quarterly in-home mail dates: March, May, August, and November.

Q: Who owns Dollars & Sense Magazine?

Q: Is your cover for sale? Where do you find the images on your cover?

We do not sell the cover and we try not to use stock photography. We prefer instead to create something beautiful that you don’t mind having out on your counter or coffee table for three months, and to support local artists while doing so. Past covers include original watercolors by Peg Ginsberg and photography by Brent Nicastro. Q: I’m a business owner. How can I get more information on advertising in Dollars & Sense?

Q:Do I have to design my own ad or provide a mailing list?

That’s our job. Your investment includes ad design, proof, printing, postage, distribution, a printable PDF on this website with a link to your own website, and the support of our own social media campaigns including contests, Facebook and Twitter. Best of all, we essentially place your mini-billboard directly into the hands of your customers, with the added bonus of a trackable promotional offer.
